Futomaki

Thick sushi rolls made with nori and shari, packed with tamagoyaki, sweetly simmered fillings, cucumber, and more. The colorful cross-section when it's sliced is part of the appeal. There are also luxurious versions loaded with seafood. On the thinner end, hosomaki (細巻き) rolls just one ingredient — like tekka-maki (tuna) or kappa-maki (cucumber) — simple, portable, and satisfying in a different way.
